Transportation to Advanced Studies schools is based upon designated hubs. These hubs are not traditional neighborhood bus stops and may require parents to pick up and drop off their children. These  bus hubs have been created to maximize the efficiency of the route, school time on the bus, and the schools’ bell times since the students’ magnet attendance district is larger than a traditional school district.

Check Out Procedures:

***There are no checkouts after 1:30 PM.***

Any person who needs to check out a child before school is over must have picture identification and be at least 16 years old. Parents will be required to sign out children who must leave school before the end of the school day. The office personnel will notify the teacher, and then the child will come to the office to meet the parent.

Students will be released only to those adults listed on the emergency card.

For cases in which a person not listed on the emergency card is sent to pick up the student, such person must deliver to the principal or designee a note from the parent requesting the release of the student. The principal or designee shall verify the request by telephoning the parent.

If such written authorization is not presented and the parent telephones the office giving oral permission for the student to depart the campus with such unauthorized person, the principal or designee shall verify by telephoning the parent at a telephone number listed on the student’s Emergency Card.

In cases where it is necessary to send a taxi for the child, the parent shall call the cab company to provide transportation. The parent shall give the school the name of the company and give verbal permission to release the child. The taxi driver shall sign the check out book in the office and list the number of his/her cab.

Parents that need to check out a bus student after dismissal but before departure from school, must sign the child out in the office. The office personnel will write a note to the bus duty teacher granting permission for the child to be released to the parent.
